User assistance features
There are several new features that are meant to ease the use
of the software, such as the Task Window, Welcome Dialog Box (this
window), New Unit Wizard, enhanced function support when defining
variables, and more.
The Task Window is by default positioned along
the right side of the application, but you can move it wherever
you wish, and even undock it. The Task Window contains help "at
your fingertips," and contains tutorials and samples, as well
as several "How do I…" topics that is meant to help
new users getting more quickly started using Powersim Studio 2005.
The Welcome Dialog Box aims at introducing new
users to Studio 2005, as well as introducing new features to existing
users. The Welcome Dialog Box can always be turned on again from
the Task Window, even if you have opted for not displaying the box
at startup.
The Add Unit Wizard and Add Range Wizard
make it easier to add new units of measurement and ranges to your
simulation project. The wizards are available from within the Variable
Definition Property Page, enabling you to create units and ranges
while you are building your model. The Add Unit
and Add Range wizards will also appear automatically
if you have used an unkown unit or range name in a variable defintion,
for example if you type the definition in the name symbol of a variable.
Hopefully, both new and existing users of Studio will find it easier
to create and use units and ranges.
The Variable Definition Property page also features enhanced
function support. When you view the list of functions in
the resource window at the bottom of the property page, you can
easily view help for the selected function by clicking Help.
The corresponding function reference page from the help system will
be displayed in the built-in help window. The function reference
will also be shown for the function below the cursor in the Definition
box.
